Flying Fox Hatchet
The Sport Utility Axes are the best value on the market for a working axe! Nice thin handles, good quality steel and a nice working edge.
The Flying Fox Woodsman Hatchet is a multi-use camp hatchet in the Sport Utility Line, that was developed with specific design parameters, so that it functions well for wood-cutting chores, but also qualifies for competitive throwing in both major urban axe throwing organizations.
The overall design takes elements found in vintage hatchets from the mid-20th century, and gives modern affirmation to those hatchets from yesteryear.
This hatchet is unique in this market, as it is one of the very few hatchets that has a hardened poll. This poll can be used as a hammer to drive nails, spikes, and other fasteners, as well as aid in the process of construction, demolition, and some mechanical applications where a slight “adjustment” is needed.
The Flying Fox is a great option for campers, backpackers, day-trippers, bushcrafters, preppers, homesteaders, hunters, trappers, tradesmen, ranchers, everyday axe enthusiasts, and competitive throwers.
MADE IN USA.

First thing - I didn't buy mine from Ben, but would have if they were in stock at the time. Figured I'd write a review here anyway.
This hatchet is in a real sweet spot for price vs features. The hardened poll is what drew me to find the flying fox as I was after an all around camp hatchet that I wouldn't mind using as the occasional hammer to knock in stakes or just the occasional thing that needs a good whack to loosen. Not that you NEED a hardened poll, but it offers piece of mind when you inevitably get asked by someone less experienced if they can borrow something to pound stakes into hard ground. I can hand this over without fear. The description is spot on. I don't ever throw mine, but clearly well balanced. Good overall head profile for cutting, splitting kindling, and even choke up for some carving due to the shallow beard. I pair mine with a 28" boys axe for a great 2 axe combo. At this price I think it's a fantastic value...good steel, good profile, proper thin handle, 100% made in the USA. Make sure to buy a sheath, the matching Council Tools one is a great choice. The head is also a great candidate for re-hafting on a 18-20" handle for a budget version of a GB SFA or similar.
