Product Description

Lagom Bush Knife Green Micarta

O1 Tool Steel

Full Tang

Scandi Grind to Zero

JRE Leather Sheath with Firesteel loop and removable dangler for multiple carry options

This knife is a collaboration between Ben Piersma from Ben's Backwoods, Jason Gustafson from Lester River Bushcraft and L.T. Wright Knives.

Lagom is a Swedish term used for "Just Right"

Not too big, not too small, not to heavy, not too light.

Jason and I have drawn from our extensive training with our mentor Mors Kochanski and the Scandinavian style knives we feel make the most useful wilderness living tools.

Design Features:

The Handle:

Large oval handle which tapers from front to back and is swelled in the middle to fill your hand. #1 priority of a bush knife is carving and cutting. This handle fills your hand in comfort for all day work with no hot spots or cramping. This is very important if you need to peel a dozen sticks for a set of Roycroft snowshoes!

This handle will feel best with average to large hands and is comfortable in many working positions including a reverse grip using it as a one handed draw knife.

The Blade:

O1 Tool steel, this carbon steel holds a excellent edge and is easy to sharpen and maintain.

Full Tang 1" wide blade 1/8" thick, 3 1/2" long, a palm width.

These dimensions are chosen as a good combination of strength with a blade thin enough not to loose cutting and carving ability.

Scandi grind blade, as the main purpose of a bush knife is peeling sticks and carving.

Full continuous curve on the cutting edge makes sharpening easier and ensures you are cutting wood fibers, meat, etc. on a angle which is always more efficient.

The full curve also gives this knife a narrow tip which handles like alot smaller knife for fine wood carving detail.

The spine on the knife is ground square to be used as a scraper on wood or to run your firesteel.

The Sheath:

We sized the sheath to take about 2/3 of the handle as is the scandinavian style for a secure sheath, you may want to add a cord lanyard on the end of the knife.

Firesteel loop for the 3/8" Army size firesteel.

Belt dangler attachment which is nice for sitting down and hanging a bit lower when wearing cold weather layers. You can remove the dangler and run the sheath on your belt or add a neck cord.

  4. Phenominal Little Knife 5 Star Review

Posted by on 10th Apr 2022

This knife is thoroughly impressive! The handle "just fits" and is super comfortable. Of course it comes razor sharp from L.T. Wright with the perfection we have come to expect from such a great company. The Skandi grind is the perfect balance between being able to perform delicate carving tasks, yet hog massive amounts of wood with minimal energy when needed. This knife hits way above its size and makes a great companion when in the field. There is nothing not to like with this Puukko style knife.

thrilled to have a Lagom Bush knife as part of my outdoor kit. It's simple and sturdy design and the "just right" size make it a perfect choice for an outdoor companion. It is an all business blade. The handle fits my large hands well too. Thanks Ben for helping to bring us this LT Wright with a nod to Mors! love it

  7. The Lagom 5 Star Review

Posted by on 5th Apr 2021

The Lagom has the feel & weight, (although compactly balanced) as a full size field knife. I prefer a Kephart/plow handle style knife when in Scandi, due to large hands. This oval type handle is very generous even though it tapers on both ends from the center palm swell. It was surprisingly very comfortable, especially near the plunge grinds of the edge to the handle when putting the thumb on the spine for some precise work & reigning in the cutting pressure...more comfortable than the Kephart designed handles. Living in a mountainous, heavily timbered western N. border state, it is a great companion knife when paired with any axe larger than a small hatchet or in conjunction with a 5" or longer blade knife for quick work of soft dead wood. In more arid parts of the nation with less timber or without big woods, it could be a solid primary cutting tool. It can handle the smallest batoning tasks, but the blade length IMHO limits this user to smalls or a whole lot of dips at the well would have to occur to get much wood processed in the way. This one limiting use aspect is what makes it such a great hand tool for so many other wood processing & fine tasks with great comfort & control of your work. It's simply enjoyable to use & makes quick work of your chores. It's like cheating or getting elevated to next level skill sets compared to my use of so many other quality cutting tools.

  10. Great Knife 5 Star Review

Posted by on 17th May 2019

The Lagom has a unique handle IMO it is shaped in a way that compliments your hand. It's very well finished and very smooth. I have to advise caution using it due to the handle finish. Its a fantastic blade though it's razor sharp out of the box and will perform well for you. LTWK, Ben and LRBC have a winner here.
