I already owned an Opinel #12 which is good as a backup knife in a bag or pack but too big for pocket carry. This No. 8 is just right for pocket carry. These knives are easily kept razor sharp and are very light and agile and dependable. I know I'll be equally as happy with this knife as I am with my first Opinel.

Knife throws a great spark on firesteel, and lock works great. Most f blade was razor sharp, the last 3/8" at the point of the blade had no edge that's why I gave it four stars instead of five. Problem was fixed in a few minutes on a stone. Knife is very easy to sharpen and holds edge pretty well. As always Bensbackwoods was a pleasure to do business with

This was my first experience with an Opinel and I must say I am impressed. The blade is a bit thinner than I expected but it takes a wonderful edge and strikes a firesteel better than any dedicated striker I have tried. I highly recommend keeping one as a backup knife in your fire kit.
