Product Description

The Morakniv Classics are made of carbon steel, which makes the knives easy to sharpen but requires more maintenance when exposed to moisture or corrosive environment. Make sure to keep the blade clean and dry The characteristic barrel-shaped red stained birch handle was first introduced around one hundred years ago with the ambition to portray an exclusive mahogany knife. The polymer sheath with a polished look is covered with the Dalecarlian shield. This is complemented with a belt strap of Swedish vegetable tanned leather, designed to stand the test of time for generations to come. In the decades since, it has grown into one of the most beloved lifestyle knives in the world – a timeless Morakniv in its purest form.

  1. from many years ago 5 Star Review

Posted by on 19th Feb 2019

I was a 12 year old in the Canadian arctic when I got my first 'Erick Frost - Mora Sweden' knife 58 years ago. When I saw this I just had to have one. Not as razor sharp as I remember, but a few minutes with a stone brought it up just fine. I'm trying to resist the urge to buy several more.

Very sharp. Thank you Ben for your great and speedy service.

  3. Mora Classic #2 5 Star Review

Posted by on 1st May 2018

I own 7 Mora knifes so I was holding back on purchasing the Mora classic #2 because I thought to myself “That red birch handle would be the one that I cut my hand on” LOL. But I went ahead and pulled the trigger for a whopping 14.00 dollars, well after two weeks of using it I could not be happier the handle know matter how you hold it just fits great in the human hand. The handle has been no problem at all and I love that old school look no bells and whistle just a very good working knife I will pare this with either my 8 inch Sami knife from Rageweed forge or my Becker BK2.

  4. best bangg for your buck. 5 Star Review

The quality is twice the cost. Light weight, stupid sharp, great size up to needing a full tang to Batton. I love all my Mora this one is for the 14 yr old grandson.

  5. All the knife most would ever need 4 Star Review

Posted by on 24th Jul 2017

I really like the feel of this knife( I have large hands) it fits your hand in any position you hold it. It is excellent at cutting things, making feathersticks, peeling sticks etc.I cannot say how it splits wood, I don't do that with any of my knives, I have an axe for that. It is extremely light but still very stout feeling. It takes and holds an edge very well, it was scary sharp when I got it. The sheath is about as standard as it gets but it does its job well too. I have a mora robust and a Lagom bush knife and I like them all but as long as you're not going to beat on it, this knife is all most would ever "need".

  6. Hard to Beat 5 Star Review

Posted by on 9th May 2017

I have many different knives, including many Mora's. I really enjoy the simplicity of the #2! With Instructors like Tim Smith and Sargefaria (who both put skills and knowledge above the latest gear) recommending and or returning to using this knife and after using side by side with my other knives....the #2 is hard to beat! Ben's service and quality products make reordering from Ben's Backwoods a no brainer.

  7. Very Traditional Mora Knife 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Dec 2016

I have several more modern Moras so I guess I have to admit that I bought this knife out of curiosity. I'm quite happy with it. It's very light and agile and the painted wood handle is smooth but not so smooth that it's slippery and the 4 1/8" long blade is very sharp and a handy length. I'll probably use the plastic sheath as a liner for a DIY leather sheath or I may just buy a leather sheath to replace it. I knew what I was getting with the sheath so I'm very happy with my purchase.

  8. More Than a Knife 5 Star Review

Posted by on 14th Nov 2015

While very basic in design, it covers all the bases for me in the bush. It feather sticks well & the Scandi grind can't be beat. I thought if I found the handle lacking I would just change it. My hands are medium large & I love the grip. Obviously the design came from experienced craftsmen. This is truly the best value in a pack knife. If one prefers a dangler type leather sheath or a Kydex sheath, that will have to be purchased separately. I use mine with the well thought out Mora sheath. I had a 5 star transaction and got a good value to boot. Time to ruck up !!! Dirt time !!!

  9. Great Knife, Great Service 5 Star Review

Posted by on 22nd Jan 2015

I have used many Moras over the years, and have recently (past few months) come full-circle. After all of the hype with "Survival" knives...I always found myself returning to the Mora. The price is right, and if used as a KNIFE and not an Axe....it will last forever. Hard to beat that.
Bens Backwoods is spot on with service as well and this isn't my first order with them. I see many more in the future.

Posted by on 17th Mar 2014

This knife is one of the best i have used.
It is super sharp from mora and after a few swipes on a strop you can shave with it. Thanks Ben's backwoods for a great product at a great price.
