Rinaldi Milano Hatchet
600 gram 1.32lb head
(I would really like to rehandle one of these in a 20" handle for a light bush axe )
Traditional Italian head pattern made to old world standards.
Hand forged wedge shaped head.
These Milano hatchets are great all around hatchets well suited to carving and wood shaping.
The pole is still large enough to pound stakes, The head, handle conection is tomohawk style friction fit, These are very easy to rehandle in the field.
Aggressive chopping and the ease of rehandling in the field makes these lighweight axes a great companion in the bush.
Excellent Quality Steel
Made in Italy

This is an unusual hatchet, very "old world"-ish. A great chopper nevertheless. Arrived very sharp and usable. The deal clincher on this item for me is the handle. It is a slide through design like a tomahawk. The handle is slim compared to most hatchets and axes but very comfortable. Easily reproduced in the field per the item description. The handle appears to be varnished and could be easily sanded and finished to your liking. It could certainly be used for carving as it has a high swept toe and a fairly thin blade but it is of such a design that the blade extends low enough that it is suitable for many chores including splitting. A very nice all around fairly lightweight axe you could easily incorporate for bush crafting. Highly recommended.
