  1. Very useful 5 Star Review

Posted by on 23rd Aug 2015

I bought one of these from Ben many moons ago. I tried it out here and there. Then it ended up in storage. Recently I dug it out to try it again. With patience and a proper fire you can do wonders with these ovens! Knowing each one is individually made by one man in his shop makes it that much more special. I started out with the usual easy recipes (pizza and biscuits). Since then I've done potatoes, bacon, salmon and even reheated casseroles in it. Buy one and learn how to use it properly and you'll love it. Since it folds so flat and is quite light it is very portable. Thanks Ben.

  4. The Best Reflector Oven on the market! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 21st Nov 2014

Svante Freden's reflector oven is the best one on the market, hands down! I looked at all the reflector ovens out there, and considered making my own, but the Swedish oven beats all of them by a wide margin. It costs HALF what any others you can buy do, and is very secure and tight, once assembled. That was the tipping point for me; how tightly it went together and how secure it was, once assembled. All the other designs consist of separate pieces of steel or aluminum, that fit together with slots and tabs, secured with pins of some type. Once assembled, they all seem a bit rickety to me, although they do bake just as well as the Swedish oven. The genius of the Swedish oven is the collapsible hinged design, as well as having a handle on top. All the panels are riveted together with hinges, so set up is incredibly easy. Just remove the strap holding it closed, pull up on the handle to open it wide, fold the back piece up and lock into place, slip the baking rack in the predrilled holes; you are now ready to bake your biscuits or bread! It all goes together tightly, so it doesn't rattle or tilt over with your pan inside. A very high quality product! A standard 9 inch round metal baking pan fits in the oven, to bake your food in (that can be picked up for about one dollar at Walmart). Buy this oven and start enjoying fresh baked bread, in the woods!

  5. This is a winner 5 Star Review

I haven't had a chance to use this around the campfire yet but can see from the construction and design that it will work just fine. This oven is well made, sturdy, compact and the design is great. I'm very happy with it.

  6. You won't regret this one! 5 Star Review

Posted by on 15th Jun 2014

I had debated on building a reflector oven myself and after doing the math and figuring in the frustration factor I decided on buying one. I wasn't about to pay a hundred or more bucks for one so when I found this one I was pleased. Well, I can't tell you how well built this thing is. The quality is really amazing. This fellow sure takes pride in his work. I received it in no time and ran out in the yard and built a fire. I made a batch of quick biscuits and started playing!!! What fun. I could watch the progress of the baking. I had been canoe camping a week ago with a dutch and toasted my biscuits cause I couldn't watch them without a big hastle of lifting the lid and peeking without dumping coals in the pot. Plus, the old saying out of sight, out of mind you know. Now I can add to the play factor by watching and poking! Get one and you'll entertain yourself for hours!!

  7. Well made and works well 5 Star Review

Posted by on 11th Feb 2014

This oven is light years better than my DIY reflector oven! I made a blueberry "muffin" in my 9" paderno steel skillet (that I also got from Ben) and this performed better than I had expected. Having used my DIY version a number of times I sort of knew what to expect, but this seemed much more efficient than mine. The craftsmanship is excellent and they're serialized and stamped by Svante. This oven is going to see a lot of action. It's definitely a quality piece of gear.

  8. Worked like a charm 5 Star Review

Posted by on 12th Aug 2013

Tried some cornbread mix in the paderno 9inch pan. It turned out very nice. I kept the oven aprox. 10 inches from the fire and it baked in about 12 min. turning it a couple of times. Of course there were some ashes on top which is unavoidable. This is exactly what I have been looking for. Well made and folds flat for storage.
