This is a superb knife for use around water. I have butchered animals, steaked out sharks, and given this knife a fair amount of abuse. The thinner tip is good for fillets/ slicing and the thicker blade near the handle allows you to feel confident using it for heavier tasks. For stainless it throws good sparks with a ferro rod, sharpens easily, and keeps an edge for a long time. Clean fish and then throw it in the dishwasher with no worries!
